Huntington Beach Pier Fishing
I love fishing at the Huntington Beach Pier. The best part of fishing to me is not catching a fish. The pleasure is all in the waiting, relaxing, doing nothing and being at one with nature.
At the Huntington Beach Pier, gorgeous sunsets are a 'free for all' daily affair. Mother Nature proudly shows off her vibrant palette of colors for all who comes out to greet her. This vivid display of colors can only be seen for a few minutes before the sun disappears below the horizon. That's the small window of opportunity to view the magical light. Be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before the sun sets. Then sit back, relax and get ready for nature's spectacular light show.

The Huntington Beach Pier has the best view of the coastline.
Yes... sometimes, you may even bump into an angel :-)
Rows of fishing rods attached to the railing while the fisherman relax and waits for action.

Colorful array of Wind Socks, Flags & Spinners flutters and spins carelessly by the refreshing sea breeze. Fishing at the pier does not require a license. Any visitor who wants to do some fishing, can rent fishing gears by the hour.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere! Let's toast!
A Pelican eyeing its next meal on a cold foggy morning from the railings. As soon as she spots fishes below, she will perform an acrobatic swan dive straight down to the water.
Huntington Beach CA – Surf City USA
The Huntington Beach is home to some of the best surfers in Southern California. Every summer, the U.S. Open of Surfing is held here. Kite Surfing is also very popular.
As the sun sets, surfers calls it a day. And tomorrow, there will be another glorious sunset at the Huntington Beach Pier.

Stingray. If you ever get a hook on a Stingray or Bat Ray, be prepared for a sore arm the next day. Having a ray on the line a few hundred feet away is like hauling a heavy wooden table under water with just a thin nylon fishing line. It needs a delicate balance of brute strength and finesse to land a Bat Ray. On one occasion, I witnessed a man fighting to hang on for 45 minutes battling a Bat Ray. He was pulled from one corner of the pier to the other and back. However on that day, the Bat Ray won. The Bat Ray's tenacity yanked the reel out of the fishing rod, and into the water it went. The big crowd that gathers to watch lets out a simultaneous sigh... and then slowly disperse. As for the guy, he not only lost his pride, but his reel as well. Later, I told him he did a great job and that he put on a solid fight. He will be back. I know. And as for the Bat Ray, she will live to fight another day.
